It’s been a hard day and your feet are tired. How about giving them a pedicure?
We all want healthy happy feet and to get them we need to start by giving ourselves a professional pedicure. But we want to do it in the comfort of our home instead of going out somewhere and having it done.
Here are some simple tips on giving yourself a pedicure at home.
Gather together:
Bowl big enough for your feet
Nail Polish remover
Nail Clippers,
Emory board
Orange Sticks
Cuticle Remover
Loofah
Pumice Store
Exfoliating Cream
Cuticle oil
Nail polish
Top Coat
Base Coat
All of these nail care products can be found at Overallbeauty.com!
1~ Start off by removing any old nail polish you may have on still from the last time you did a pedicure.
2~ Start off by filling a large basin with warm water for a long foot soak.
Adding mineral salts, baby shampoo will help you relax.
3~ You can also add rosewater or essentials oils just as lavender for true deep relaxation as well as soften calluses and corns if any. The more cracked and calloused your feet and heels maybe, the longer you should be soaking them.
4~Clean under each toenail and clip whatever nail you feel needs it.
It’s best to use high quality clippers made for clipping toenails. To avoid ingrown nails, cut your toenail straight across, leaving about 1/8 of inch of length. It makes sure your nail doesn’t extend over the tip of your toe. To get a soft square shape, file the nail around the corners slightly using a emery board in one direction. Metal files are not the best files to use because they can rip your nails if you are not really careful.
Basic emery boards are best for smoothing away any tears or breaks. Because a basic emery board usually comes with two sides, the fine-grade side is great for smoothing the nail edge, while the coarser side is for shortening and shaping your nails.
5~ Rub cuticle remover to the base of each nail and rub it in.
Leave the cuticle remover on for about a minute, then using a orange stick gently push with an circular motion everywhere the skin meets up with the nails (including the sides ). If you must, trim the cuticles but do it carefully and sparingly with sterilized trimmers. It would be better to sterilized the trimmers before time, so that they are cool to the touch.
6~ Using a Loofah, remove any dead skin from the soles of your feet, zeroing in on your heels and balls of your feet. You can also use a pumice stone to remove any calluses and dry spots. You will want to scrub the balls, bottoms and sides of your heels and around your toenails.
7~ Massage an exfoliating cream into the skin, rubbing it all the way up your calves. This will help remove any remaining dry dead skin.
8~ Rinse your feet off and dry your feet thoroughly including between your toes and take the time to apply a moisturizing cream especially made for feet. But any super rich body cream or body butter will work just as well.
You can re-hydrated your cuticles by rubbing in a dab of cuticle oil.
You are now done now if you are not going to polish your toenails. But if you are the next steps are for applying nail polish.
Now wait 2 to 3 minutes.
If you are going to now apply nail polish to your toenails, then you need to take a nail polish remover to remove any excess oils on the nail, including the cuticle oil you just applied.
9~ Apply your base coat to fortify and protect your toenails using three strokes, one down the middle, then one of each side of the nail. Now if you can’t do this, don’t worry it’s a trick that a lot of nail techs have problems with as well.
If your nails are prone to chipping and splitting, you should check your diet to see what vitamins you are missing. But for now use a base coat that with help fortify your toenails. Try not to get nail polish on your cuticles and wait at least one minute between coats of nail polish. Now apply your top coat and your toenails are as pretty as your fingernails are!
If there is any errors you can clean that up with an orange stick wrapped in cotton that has been dipped in nail polish remover.
Let your toenails dry at least 40 minutes before putting your shoes on.
You have now just gave yourself a professional pedicure at home and just think how much money you just saved! If you have girlfriends who love having their toes done, why not get them all together and have a pedicure party?
Have fun and why not try to be a more experimental with the nail polish colors you wear on your toes?
Just remember if you don’t have time to give yourself a pedicure at least remove any chipped nail polish.
