17+ Tips for Natural Hair Care

Heard or said these words lately "I am having a bad hair day!" That is something that happens to even the
best hair cuts or styles no matter who you might be.
Now, having a good hair day or bad something just depends on the condition of our hair. If your not taking
good care of it then bad hair days happen. One thing we all do that is wrong but we think is the right thing
to do is, not getting our hair trim every 6 to 8 weeks like our hair dressers tell us is best. Growing out our
hair its thought of that if we don't trim it it will get longer faster, not true! What happens is we get ragged
looking ends the break easier, split and sometimes means the next cut we get more is trim off just to get all
those bad ends. So if your hair dresser tells you that to grow your hair out you need to trim it every 6 to 8
weeks, they know what they are talking about!
One of the best things for you and your hair is to Stop Smoking! Or don't pick it up!
Another thing we need to do to have healthy hair growth is to eat a well balanced diet. Foods high in folic
acid are beneficial for healthy hair.
Good foods are live yogurt, plenty of fresh vegetables, salads and fruits, cold-pressed oils (think olive, safflower etc)
linseeds, sunflower/pumpkin/sesame seeds, wholegrains (brown rice/oats), buckwheat, almonds, figs and dates. Lots of pure
water. Or instead mix 1 egg with your second shampoo for bounce and added protein.
Try not to use rubber bands to tie back your hair. Just cause its on the newspaper doesn't mean its good for
use anywhere else. These days there are covered bands that do a better job and tend not to cause breakage. When
removing them, do it slow and be careful.
Never speed up combing out your hair when its wet. Try to use a pick first, it will find the knots if any and are
just easier on your hair. Damage and breakage of your hair is being self inflicted by hurrying. Hair wet is a lot more
fragile than you think. If needed and use this for sure on a child due to they tend to be more tender headed, use a
detangler as well as a conditioner to aid in combing out your hair. Nothing is worse then hearing a child crying because
they don't want their hair comb cause of knots from washing. Best bet, use a wide tooth comb first, then if need be use a small tooth comb or brush.
Get regular trims to prevent splitting and just dead ends.
If you have a dry or flaky scalp, try brushing your hair and scalp before shampooing with a natural boar bristle brush.
Some heads of hair just need to be exfloiated several times a day with a good brushing. Try this, before going to bed
turn your head so your facing your knees if you can and brush your hair down to the ground. It helps to get the scalp under
your hair by your neck easier and it brushes anything in to ground. I think it just feels good to do it.
For those who wash their hair in the shower, to make your hair shiny, rinse it in ice cold water. This might be uncomfortable
a little but you are rinsing the hair not the scalp. There is a reason why, cold water closes down the cuticle layer of the hair
leaving it smooth and shiny.
For oily hair or baby fine or limp, avoid conditioning at the scalp. Don't put contitioner in your hand then dump go and add it
to the top of your head, it weighs the hair and can cause oily hair to get oily faster. Conditioner should be applied just to the
ends and half way up your head. Stop about the top of your ears and see if doing it this way makes a differences in your hair.
Be careful on the amount of shampoo you use, apply about dessertspoonful of shampoo is good, less for short hair, more if your hair
is long. Using more shampoo is just wasting it and it doesn't mean cleaner hair.
Here are a few ideas for stepping up your hair regime but giving a spa treatment. A few natural recipes to get
you started. Or just stepping up a little to change your hair regime but not a thing full blowed.
Super simple ideas:
Try Club soda as a hair rinse.
Rinsing with apple vinegar or sea water makes your hair thicker and fuller.
If you are blonde and want to create natural highlights then squeeze lemons all over your hair and sit in the sum
to help bring out your hair's nautral highlights. But we all know how bad the sun can be on the rest of you while you are sitting in
the sun, try this idea instead. but a hair thats just a rim and pull all your hair out so its over the rim of the hat then add your
lemon juice but cover the rest of you with suntan lotion or clothes.
Even better rinse your hair in flat champagne to bring out blonde highlights.
If you don't have time to wash your hair, cut a square from a old pair of pantyhoses and run it through the bristles of your hairbrush
to absorb and remove dirt and grime. Just brush till your hair looks clean.

Caring for your hair naturally isn't as hard as some might think. In fact there are items in your kitchen
right now that when mixed together can makes things like, all-purpose hair conditioner, shampoo, masks and more.
Here are two different quick hair conditioners that were made famous in Hollywood because of all the styling,
coloring, and exposure to hot lights, actors need to get their hair back into condition as soon as possible.
Here are 2 all time hair conditioner that many well-known actresses swore by it.
Number 1.
Wet your hair.
Pat with a towel to remove excess water,
then apply 3 to 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise.
Wrap your hair in a towel for 30 minutes.
Rinse, then shampoo.

Number 2 all time favorite.
Combine 2 to 3 tablespoons of yogurt with 1 egg.
Wet hair, and massage the conditioner into your scalp.
Wrap your hair in a towel for 30 minutes.
Rinse, then shampoo.

For variation and if your hair is oily you may wish to avoid mayonnaise and try this instead. Try smashing up
a very ripe banana and mix it with a ripe avocado, and then follow the same recipe as the mayonnaise.

To prevent hair product build-up, every few months actress Jaclyn Smith whips up a deep-cleanser: half cup of white vinegar,
mixed into a quart of boiling water. Shampoo the cooled solution into just-washed hair, then rinse with ice-cold water.

Here are three more quick hair conditioning treatments.
These ingredients can be applied directly to your hair. Choose one or combining several. Just use 1/2 cups or less
depending on the length of your hair. Leave the conditioner on for 10 to 15 minutes, then shampoo out. They are
great for once a week use.
For normal hair: Try mayonnaise, eggs, plain yogurt, olive oil, castor oil, and jojoba oil.
For dry hair: Try avocado, mayonnaise, bananas and coconut oil.
For oily hair: Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to any one of the following,
eggs, plain yogurt, olive oil, castor oil, or jojoba oil.

There is alot of information on free and simple ways to care for your hair without coming from a bottle
you buy. But they all had one thing in common, it took time. There wasn't any that you could add, rinse, repeat
like the shampoo you can buy. If you don't have time to create your own then a store bought one has to do,
if you do have time, your hair will love you for these treatments!
